You Never Thought You'd Be Here

Maybe you saw the divorce coming. Maybe you didn't.
Maybe you were the one who initiated it. Maybe it was done to you.

Maybe the marriage had been dying for years—or maybe your entire life seemed to change overnight.

However you arrived here, it hurts.

And if you're reading this, you're probably carrying more than just the loss of a marriage. You may be carrying grief, anger, loneliness, rejection, shame, confusion, fear, questions about God, questions about yourself, and uncertainty about what your life is supposed to look like now.

I know. And I'm so deeply sorry.

But I also want you to know something:

You can heal.

Not by pretending it didn't happen.
Not by rushing through the grief.
Not by simply waiting for time to pass.

But by intentionally partnering with God in your healing.

That's what Heartbreak to Hope is designed to help you do.

This isn't about getting over it.

It's about healing through it.

You don't have to deny your pain or numb yourself and hope time does the work.

Instead, this guide invites you to slow down and let God meet you in the middle of what happened.

The original course was intentionally designed to move slowly, with space between lessons because healing isn't something you can rush. The guide even encourages you to take one lesson at a time and allow the material to work in your heart and mind.

You'll be invited to look honestly at what happened—but also to begin asking:

Who am I now?
What do I need to heal?
What do I need to release?
What does God want to teach me here?
And what might He still have for me?

What's Inside

Module 1: Looking Back

Your past matters. Your story matters. Your heart matters. Your healing matters.

Before moving forward, you'll take a brief but meaningful look at the relationships and experiences that shaped you—including your childhood and the influential men in your life.

You'll explore how those relationships may have shaped your understanding of yourself, men, relationships, and even God.

And if abuse was part of your marriage, you'll be given space to honestly acknowledge what happened rather than minimizing it.

Lesson: Your Childhood & All Other Men

Module 2: Looking at Your Present

Stop living in the fog and begin defining your reality.

This module helps you take an honest look at where you are right now—relationally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

You'll work through the questions that won't stop running through your mind, learn to distinguish between what you can and cannot control, and begin rebuilding healthy patterns of caring for yourself.

You'll explore:

  • All the Why's
  • Defining & Accepting My Reality
  • Stress
  • Self-Care

You'll also have a built-in opportunity to pause, breathe, assess your progress, and let what you've learned begin to settle.

Module 3: Looking In

Learn to face the emotions that can keep you stuck.

Divorce doesn't just change your circumstances.

It can bring emotions to the surface that you've never had to deal with quite this way before.

This module takes a deep dive into the emotions that can leave you paralyzed—or send you spiraling into choices you may later regret.

You'll work through:

  • Loneliness
  • Rejection & Abandonment
  • Failure & Shame
  • Anger

You'll learn that you don't have to run from difficult emotions. You can bring them honestly to God, listen to what they're revealing, and learn healthier ways to walk through them.

And you'll be reminded of a particularly important truth:

You are not rejected. You are free.

Module 4: Looking Around & Ahead

Begin creating newness.

Healing isn't only about looking backward.

Eventually, you have to begin looking around you and ahead of you.

This final module helps you begin redefining old relationships and creating newness in your life.

You'll explore:

  • Forgiveness
  • Boundaries
  • Children & Co-Parenting
  • Finding Friendship & Support as a Single
  • Your Dreams & Goals
  • Whether to Stay Single or Try Again
  • The gifts God has placed in you

Because your life after divorce isn't simply about surviving what happened.

There is still a future to build.

What You'll Learn

By the end of Heartbreak to Hope, you'll have spent intentional time:

🌿 Understanding your story Looking honestly at the experiences and relationships that helped shape you.
🌿 Accepting your reality Moving from endless “why?” questions toward healthier ways of asking, “How do I move forward from here?”
🌿 Caring for yourself Learning to take your physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational health seriously during a season of crisis.
🌿 Processing difficult emotions Making room for loneliness, rejection, shame, anger, grief, and the complicated emotions that accompany divorce.
🌿 Owning your part without carrying false blame One of the course's central themes is learning to honestly acknowledge your own choices without taking responsibility for another person's choices. The guide calls this an important part of healing and of avoiding bitterness.
🌿 Establishing healthy boundaries Especially when children and co-parenting remain part of your reality.
🌿 Rebuilding connection Finding the people who can walk with you through this season instead of trying to carry it alone.
🌿 Beginning to dream again Not simply asking, “How do I survive this?” but eventually, “What might God have for me now?”

A note from Elisabeth

Sweet one,

The fact that you're here tells me something. You didn't expect to be in this position. You may not have wanted this.

And I'm so deeply sorry that this is your reality right now.

But you are doing something brave. You're choosing not simply to survive your divorce, but to partner with God in your grieving and healing process.

And I believe that's where hope begins.

God loves you completely.
He sees you.
He is with you.

He is your Healer, your Shepherd, your Redeemer, your Friend.

And you will make it through this.

You may not know what your future looks like yet. That's okay.

You don't have to have the whole thing figured out today.

Let's just take the next step.

Elisabeth
