For years, I heard from women who were trying to stay in marriages that were anything but easy.
They were dealing with addiction, betrayal, abuse, dishonesty, anger, broken trust, and all the complicated circumstances that can make a marriage deeply painful. And they were trying to figure out how to stay without losing themselves in the process.
I knew that simply telling a woman to pray harder, forgive more, or try harder wasn't enough.
She needed a place to be honest about what was happening. She needed to learn how to care for herself, understand her own role, grieve the marriage she thought she would have, establish healthy boundaries, navigate forgiveness and trust, communicate wisely, and stay connected to God in the middle of it all.
So I created Better Way to Stay—a resource for women who have chosen to remain in a difficult marriage and want to learn how to live differently within it.
This isn't about pretending your marriage is okay when it isn't. And it isn't about changing your husband.
It's about becoming healthier, stronger, wiser, and more whole—while trusting God with what you cannot control.
Better Way to Stay is thoughtfully organized into three parts, each building on the one before it to help you navigate a difficult marriage while growing in faith, strength, and wholeness.
Take an honest look at where you are, including your own role in your marriage and the ways this difficult season is affecting you. Learn to care for yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually while staying grounded in God's presence.
Face the realities of your marriage with honesty and wisdom. Learn to grieve what you hoped your marriage would be, navigate forgiveness and trust, communicate more wisely, and recognize unhealthy patterns without losing yourself in the process.
Discover that your marriage does not have to define your entire life. Reclaim your identity, loosen unhealthy dependence on your relationship, try new things, and learn what it looks like to build a full and meaningful life with God—even while your marriage remains difficult.
