I talk a lot about relational tools and emotional sanity and healing and hope.

Knowing that a woman is hurting and that there is something she can do about it to make her circumstances steadier or her heart more peaceful by turning to God is what keeps me going day in and day out.

But I want to press pause for a minute.

I want to make sure that you understand something. Like really understand something.

I believe a heart can change and heal.
I believe a mind can change and heal.
I believe a relationship can change and heal.
I believe a life can change and heal.
I believe a person can change and heal.

But not just because we dig down deep.
Not because of three easy steps.
Not because we click our heels together and want it badly enough.

I believe in change and healing because I believe in Jesus and his resurrection power.

I truly believe in my heart, mind, soul, body and every fiber of my being that Jesus was a real person who walked this earth, that he really died (for me and for you), and that he came back to life (for me and for you), that he is alive and well, mysteriously both at the right hand of the Father and dwelling within every heart who believes.

And…wait for it…because the Bible tells me so, I also believe we therefore have that resurrection power dwelling within us. (Ephesians 1:19-20 NLT)

So, when I give tips and suggestions and questions to ask and prayers to pray, it’s not because I think you can change by doing such and such.

I think you can change because those of us who follow Jesus have the Spirit’s power within us.

And I’m here to tell you…as a woman who used to cry herself to sleep and yell almost every day of her married life and policed and judged her then-partner and sobbed on bathroom floors asked God to take her home and…

Change can come. And healing can come.
But not because I am my own hero.

Change ad healing came because there first was a Resurrection of Jesus and then a resurrection of me by Jesus, again and again and again, every day, over and over, making all things new.

And He can do that for you too.

I pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 1:19-20 NLT)

Peace and hope and a new perspective to you as Easter arrives. You don’t have to do it all alone…you’ve got Jesus.

xoxo Elisabeth
